Services That We Offer

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Puppy and Kitten Visits and Education
One the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of our practice is helping families start off right with their new family member. It is at this early stage where education about behavior, diet, preventative and routine care can really make a big difference in the pets health and happiness over their entire life.
Wellness and Geriatric Services
Annual wellness and geriatric visits are not primarily about vaccines. For years clients have been trained and told to come in for "vaccines", and although vaccines are important and should be administered when neededor indicated, they are not the primary reasons for yours pet's wellness visits.
During the "annual" visit, the primary focus should be on the physical exam and education. We feel that these are our best tools extend your pets life, quality of life by attempting detect and address problems before they become debilitating or chronic.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services
Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services
We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures from soft tissue to orthopedic.

We also offer laparoscopic (minimally invasive) procedures that are performed through small incisions with a rigid endoscope.

For more specialized and complex surgical cases, we frequently refer to Upstate Veterinary Specialists.
Anesthesia
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.

Anesthesia is not a "one size fits all" situation, so we base our anesthetic protocol on multiple factors (the individual patient, the procedure, etc.) to achieve the desired level of anesthesia in the safest manner possible.

Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology and Ultrasound Services
Our on-site, modern digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

We also offer limited ultrasound services.
Dentistry
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification
We offer microchip identification with HomeAgain microchips. We also offer tattoo identification, although it is rarely used.
Pharmacy
We have an extensive in clinic pharmacy, however we are also able to offer an off-site pharmacy so that we can have access to any prescription veterinary product that you may need.
We also frequently write prescriptions (where appropriate) for medications that may be available at your normal pharmacy.
Sometimes, the medication we need is not available in the form or strength suitable for your pet, for these instances, we work with local compounding pharmacies to find solutions for your pet.
Individualized Flea and Tick Control Programs
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling
One of the easiest ways to keep your pet healthy is to provide them with a healthy and nutritious diet. We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as noise/thunderstorm phobias, separation anxiety, excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Behavior issues can be especially frustrating to deal with and can significantly impact both the pet and the owner's quality of life.
